Word of God is Spirit Not Scriptures

17/11/2011 14:54
  1. John 5:37-40
You have neither heard the Father's voice nor seen his form.
But you do not have His word abiding in you, because whom He sent, Him you do not believe.
    You search the
Scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life; and these are they which testify of Me.
But you are not willing to come to me that you may have life.

Here Jesus makes a clear distinction between the word of God, and the Scriptures.
Jesus speaks of His word abiding in you.
Paul said: "The word is near you, even in your mouth, and in your heart [so you may obey it]; that is, the word of faith, which we preach. " Rom 10:8. Where is the word again?
It is not in heaven, that you should say, 'Who shall go up for us to heaven, and bring it to us, that we may hear it, and do it?'
Neither is it beyond the sea, that you should say, 'Who shall go over the sea for us, and bring it to us, that we may hear it, and do it?' But the word is very near to you, in your mouth, and in your heart, so that you may obey it. Deu 30:11-14
    .

  2. John 6:63
The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life-giving.

  3. Luke 8:11...14-15
The seed is the Word of God.
And that [seed] which fell among thorns are they, which, when they have heard, go forth, and are choked with cares and riches and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to perfection. But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience.

To bring forth fruit to perfection does no come from Bible study. Millions study the Bible every day and bring forth no fruit. But is you listen to the Spirit of God and obey his commands to you, you will eventually produce the fruit of the Spirit: love, peace, joy, gentleness, kindness, patience, faith, humility; which comes to those whose obedience to the commands heard spoken to them crucify their sinful nature's passions and pleasures.

  4. 1 John 5:7
there are three that bear witness in heaven: the Father, the Word,
[this is Jesus, not the Bible] and the Holy Spirit; and these three are one.

  5. 1 John 2:5
But whoever keeps His word, truly the love of God is perfected in him. By this we know that we are in Him. 1 John 2:5
    .
Whoever keeps his word (is obedient to commands, practices his teachings), the love of God is perfected in him. If there is one word that sums up the Bible, it is obedience. True faith leads to obedience. Obedience leads to the restoration of man to the image of God, and then to union with Christ and God. You are in Christ if the love of God has been perfected in you. If not, you can say you are in Christ, but it is a lie.

  11. 1 Kings 8:26

Go home, every one of you, for this is my doing.' " So they obeyed the word of the LORD and went home again, as the LORD had ordered.

(Scripture did not come to Shemaiah; the Lord spoke to Shemaiah. Scripture is not the word of God.)

  13. 1 Kings 13:1
By the word of the LORD a man of God came from Judah to Bethel, as Jeroboam was standing by the altar to make an offering.

Notice! You are to hear the good news of you salvation to come, spoken from the mouth of God, which you hear in your heart. You hear that good news when you receive the seal of the Spirit, which is the down payment of the final salvation, when Christ becomes your true ruler and king.

"I see a boiling pot, tilting away from the north," I answered.

  35. Jeremiah 2:1-4

how as a bride you loved me and followed me through the desert, through a land not sown. Israel was holy to the LORD, the first fruits of his harvest; all who devoured her were held guilty, and disaster overtook them,' " declares the LORD. Hear the word of the LORD, O house of Jacob, all you clans of the house of Israel. This is what the LORD says:

  36. Jeremiah 6:9-10

  39. Jeremiah 21:1
The word came to Jeremiah from the LORD when King Zedekiah sent to him Pashhur son of Malkijah and the priest Zephaniah son of Maaseiah. They said:

  40. Jeremiah 23:36
But you must not mention 'the oracle of the LORD ' again, because every man's own word becomes his oracle and so you distort the words of the living God, the LORD Almighty, our God.

  41. Jeremiah 42:15
then hear the word of the LORD, O remnant of Judah. This is what the LORD Almighty, the God of Israel, says:

Hear the word of the LORD, you Israelites, because the LORD has a charge to bring against you who live in the land: "There is no faithfulness, no love, no acknowledgment of God in the land.

  43. Zechariah 12:1
This is the word of the LORD concerning Israel. The LORD, who stretches out the heavens, who lays the foundation of the earth, and who forms the spirit of man within him, declares:

  44. Mark 7:13
Thus you nullify the word of God by your tradition that you have handed down. And you do many things like that."

  49. John 5:37-40
You have neither heard His [the Father's] voice at any time, nor seen his form.
And you do not have His word abiding in you; for you do not believe him whom he has sent.
You search the scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life; and these are those that testify of me.
But you will not come to me, that you might have life.

(Here Jesus makes a clear distinction between the word of God, and the Scriptures.
Jesus speaks of His word abiding in you.
The word is near you, even in your mouth, and in your heart. Rom 10:8)

  50. Daniel 9:2
in the first year of his reign, I, Daniel, understood from the Scriptures, according to the word of the LORD given to Jeremiah the prophet, that the desolation of Jerusalem would last seventy years.

(As seen here, the scriptures and the word of the Lord are different; the Bible is not the Word of God. )

  51. John 1:1
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

(The Word is God, not the Bible!)

  52. John 1:14
The Word became flesh and made his dwelling in us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.
(This word is clearly not the Bible.)

  53. Revelation 19:13
He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood, and his name [Jesus' name] is the Word of God.

[So Jesus, and his Spirit, is the Word of God, not the Bible!]

  54. Heb 11:3
Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God
, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.
To think the Bible framed the worlds is ridiculous.

  55. Hebrews 4:12
For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.

[In the beginning was the word, and the word was God. John 1:1. And he was clothed with a garment dipped in blood; and his name is called The Word of God...And he has on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS. Rev 19:13,16. I am he who searches the minds and the hearts. Jer 17:10, Rev 2:23. He (Jesus) who searches the hearts, knows what is the mind of the Spirit because he makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God. Rom 8:27.]
[The Bible is not living and active, but the Spirit is living], but the words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life-giving. John 6:63
The Bible cannot judge your heart; but the Spirit of Christ, the Word of God, can and does!

And out of his mouth goes a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: Rev 19:15.
Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. Eph 6:17
So, the sword of the spirit is not the Bible, it is the spoken words from the mouth by the Spirit of Christ in a son!!!

  56. Jer 23:28-32
Let the prophet who has a dream tell his dream, but let the one who has my word speak it faithfully. For what has straw to do with grain?" declares the LORD.
"Is not my word like fire," declares the LORD, "and like a hammer that breaks a rock in pieces?

"Therefore," declares the LORD, "I am against the prophets who steal from one another words supposedly from me.
Yes," declares the LORD, "I am against the prophets who wag their own tongues and yet declare, 'The LORD declares.'

  57. John 6:63
It is the spirit that quickens; the flesh profits nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.

Now look at the Apostles references to the Word, and remember, the Bible wasn't even printed until 1516. So, the early church thrived in Spirit and power without the Bible. So, the Bible can't be the Word of God. The below references are not to the Bible or Scriptures.

  1. 1 Cor 2:13
This is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom,
    but in
words taught by the Spirit, expressing spiritual truths in spiritual words.

  2. Romans 10:8
But what does it say? "The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart," that is, the word of faith we are proclaiming.

  3. Rom 10:17
So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Remember, Paul tells us in Rom 10:8, the word is near you, even in your mouth, and in your heart, that is, the word of faith, which we preach, which referred to Deuteronomy:

If you will listen to and heed the voice of the LORD your God, to keep his commandments and his statutes which are written in this book of the law,
and if you turn to the LORD your God with all your heart, and with all your soul.
For this command which I command you this day is not hidden from you, nor is it far off.
It is not in heaven, that you should say, 'Who shall go up for us to heaven, and bring it to us, that we may hear it, and do it?'
Neither is it beyond the sea, that you should say, 'Who shall go over the sea for us, and bring it to us, that we may hear it, and do it?'
But the word is very near to you, in your mouth, and in your heart, so that you may obey it. Deu 30:10-14

So faith is hearing the word of Christ from within your heart, and recognizing it as the Spirit of God speaking to you, or Christ speaking to you; and believing it enough to obey. Thus to believe is: to believe, [trust, depend on, obey] on the word, Christ, heard in your heart. Blessed are those who hear the word of God and keep [practice, obey] it. Christendom would have you believe that hearing someone read the words of the Bible is hearing the word of God, and if you believe them, you are a "believer." But this only results in belief in a book and faith in the words in a book. Yet Paul has just told us that faith comes from hearing the word, which word is in our hearts; so to have real faith, you must hear Christ from within your heart and believe whom you hear, to be the Son of God; and believe enough to completely obey him.

Then, not a book about Jesus, but Jesus himself is the source and author of your faith: true faith, of which Jesus is the author and finisher of our faith, Heb 12:2. By obedience to the word, Jesus, you have faith: For Jesus became the Author and Source of eternal salvation to all those who give heed and obey Him. Heb 5:9. To believe is to obey. Obedience leads to salvation. Obedience leads to righteousness.

  4. Acts 4:31

So the Twelve gathered all the disciples together and said, "It would not be right for us to neglect the ministry of the word of God in order to wait on tables.

But the word of God continued to increase and spread. (there were no Bibles to hand out)

who was an attendant of the proconsul, Sergius Paulus. The proconsul, an intelligent man, sent for Barnabas and Saul because he wanted to hear the word of God.
  14. Acts 13:46
Then Paul and Barnabas answered them boldly: "We had to speak the word of God to you first. Since you reject it and do not consider yourselves worthy of eternal life, we now turn to the Gentiles.
  15. Acts 13:44
On the next Sabbath almost the whole city gathered to hear the word of the Lord.

  18. Acts 17:13
When the Jews in Thessalonica learned that Paul was preaching the word of God at Berea, they went there too, agitating the crowds and stirring them up.
  19. Acts 18:11
So Paul stayed for a year and a half, teaching them the word of God.
  20. Acts 19:10
This went on for two years, so that all the Jews and Greeks who lived in the province of Asia heard the word of the Lord.
  21. Acts 19:20

  22. Acts 20:32
"Now I commit you to God and to the word of his grace, which can build you up and give you an inheritance among all those who are sanctified.

  24. 1 Corinthians 14:36
Did the word of God originate with you? Or are you the only people it has reached?

  25. 2 Corinthians 2:17
Unlike so many, we do not peddle the word of God for profit. On the contrary, in Christ we speak before God with sincerity, like men sent from God.

  26. 2 Corinthians 4:2
Rather, we have renounced secret and shameful ways; we do not use deception, nor do we distort the word of God. On the contrary, by setting forth the truth plainly we commend ourselves to every man's conscience in the sight of God.

  27. Ephesians 6:17
Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
And a sword will pierce through your own soul also--that the secret thoughts and purposes of many hearts may be brought out and disclosed. Luke 2:35. Repent; or else I will come to you quickly, and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth. Rev 2:16. And out of his mouth goes a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: Rev 19:15.
So, the sword of the spirit is not the Bible, it is the spoken words from the mouth by the Spirit of Christ, the Word of God.

  28. James 1:21
Receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls
    .
The engrafted word is what you hear, receive, and obey; thus His words with life are engrafted into your heart

  29. Philippians 1:14

  31. Colossians 3:16
Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God.

  32. 1 Thessalonians 2:13
And we also thank God continually because, when you received the word of God, which you heard from us, you accepted it not as the word of men, but as it actually is, the word of God, which is at work in you who believe.

  33. 1 Timothy 4:5
because it is consecrated by the word of God and prayer.

Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

  35. Titus 1:3
and at his appointed season he brought his word to light through the preaching entrusted to me by the command of God our Savior.

  36. Hebrews 6:5
who have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the coming age.

  37. Hebrews 13:7
Remember your leaders, who spoke the word of God to you. Consider the outcome of their way of life and imitate their faith.

  38. James 1:22-24
Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says, is like a man who looks at his face in a mirror and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like.

  39. 1 Peter 1:23,25
For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God
    .
(You cannot be born again by scripture, reading or hearing it read; but you can be born again by the Spirit, as you respond to hearing an obeying Spirit, or the word of God within your heart. )

But the word of the Lord endures forever." And this is the word [the word in your heart] by which the gospel is preached to you
    .
The gospel is not preached to you by a book of scriptures. The gospel was preached to Abraham by the Lord, and Abraham was before any scripture had been written. The Spirit of Christ, the Word of God, lives, lasts, and endures forever. The gospel was preached (past tense) in every creature under the heaven. Col 1:27. Christ preaches the gospel to every man, as the Spirit, the Word of God, in a man's heart speaks to him.

  40. 2 Peter 3:5
But they deliberately forget that long ago by God's word the heavens existed and the earth was formed
    .
(The Bible did not create the heavens and earth, but the Spirit of Christ, the Word of God did create it all.)

  41. 1 John 1:1
That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked at and our hands have touched—this we proclaim concerning the Word of life.

  42. 1 John 2:5
But whoever keeps His word, truly the love of God is perfected in him. By this we know that we are in Him.

  43. 1 John 2:14
I write to you, fathers, because you have known him who is from the beginning. I write to you, young men, because you are strong, and the word of God lives in you, and you have overcome the evil one
    .
(Scripture does not live in anyone, but the Word of God, the Spirit of Christ, is in your heart to hear and obey.)

  44. Revelation 1:2
who testifies to everything he saw—that is, the word of God and the testimony of Jesus Christ.

  45. Revelation 1:9
I, John, your brother and companion in the suffering and kingdom and patient endurance that are ours in Jesus, was on the island of Patmos because of the word of God and the testimony of Jesus
    .
(Obviously reading scripture did not cause John to be placed on the island of Patmos, but because he preached the word of God as he heard it revealed to him, and because he prophesied (the spirit of prophecy is the testimony of Jesus), he was banished to Patmos.

  46. Revelation 6:9
When he opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slain because of the word of God and the testimony they had maintained.

  47. Revelation 20:4
I saw thrones on which were seated those who had been given authority to judge. And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded because of their testimony for Jesus and because of the word of God. They had not worshiped the beast or his image and had not received his mark on their foreheads or their hands. They came to life and reigned with Christ a thousand years.

  48. Revelation 19:12-16
His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself.
And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God.
And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean.
And out of his mouth goes a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treads the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.
And he has on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.
