Eternal Life Part II

Hello brothers and sisters of the Heavenly Kingdom, this is Boniface from Olivemount Family sharing with you the word on this wonderful Sunday evening. Today we are going to continue our mini Series in Eternal Life and this will be part II (if you missed part One you can read it here). In part I we talked about what happen when somebody die and the evidence according to the bible of life after death. In this article we are going to explore the eternal life, the free Gift that we have received by believing in Jesus.

The entire world lives in fear of death but Hebrews 2:14-15  tells us that Jesus came to set us free from the fear of death, that’s mean in Jesus we don’t have anymore to fear death. Why peoples fear death? Because death bring sorrows, separation & the unknown but Jesus bring assurance as it’s written in the gospel of John: Jesus said to her, I am the Resurrection and the Life! He who believes in Me, though he die, yet he shall live (Joh 11:25). This verse gives hope of eternal life and the difference between a believer and an unbeliever is hope in christ (Titus 1:1-2).

Eternal Security

However some believers still live with the fear of death just because they don’t really understand what is eternal life. Romain 6:23  gives us a clear definition of eternal life : For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

In romain the bible tells us clearly that eternal life is a gift that God gives us through Jesus Christ, and if it’s a gift that’s mean you didn’t paid for it nor you didn’t achieved it through your works it’s just a free gift from God, that doesn’t mean it’s cheap or it didn’t cost God anything No No!!! it’s because it cost God his SON that it’s priceless. No Gifts coming from God can be purchased with works or money : But Peter said to him, May your silver perish with you, because you have thought that the gift of God may be purchased with money (Act 8:20).  Because some Christians doesn’t  understand the concept of God’s gift (Grace) they are afraid to loose it and eventually end up in hell, that’s why Christians lives in fear of death but let’s see what paul says in the letter to the ephesians : For by grace you are saved through faith, and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast (Eph 2:8-9). Our salvation came through Grace and it cannot be lost through works so if you are a Christian and reading this article know that your salvation is secure in the Hand of Jesus.

Other interesting verses about this topic : John 6:37, 39-40; Rom 8:29-39; Philippians 1:6; Jeremie 32:40.

Why do I need Jesus to enter Eternal Life?

As I told you before only in Jesus we have the hope and assurance of eternal life, the reason why we need Jesus is because we are sinners and God cannot behold sins Rom 3:23  says “for all have sinned and come short of the glory of God” so we all come short of the Glory of God ( Eternal Life) But Jesus make it possible for Us Rom 3:24-26

being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus; whom God has set forth to be a propitiation through faith in His blood, to declare His righteousness through the passing by of the sins that had taken place before, in the forbearance of God; for the display of His righteousness at this time, for Him to be just and, forgiving the one being of the faith of Jesus.”

Jesus is the Lamb of God the one who were punished for our sins and in him we have forgiveness of our sins, all the world were forgiven in the cross of Jesus Christ but only those who believe in him receive the gift of eternal life and be in the presence of God.

The only way for us to be in the presence of God is through Jesus Christ that’s why he said “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life; no one comes to the Father but by Me.” (Joh 14:6).

Assurance of Eternal life (What happens when we Die as a Christian)

When we believe in him we know that we are going to spend eternity with him, in the first century the believers were exposed to death every days because of the gospel and were not afraid to die in fact books that speaks of these event quote Christians as saying  “Today I will stand in front of Jesus” in the bible we have different cases of peoples dying for their beliefs for Jesus one of them is steven who before to die saw what was waiting for him the Glory of Heaven no wonder he didn’t curse those who were stoning him but he prayed and forgave them (Act 7:54-59). The eternal life become reality when you see Jesus as your Lord and Saviour. Paul says in Philippians 1:21  “For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain” Only somebody who know his destiny can realy says that to die is gain. When a believer die immediately he is in the presence of the Lord (Phil 1:23-24; 2 Cor 5:8), because to be absent from the body is to be in the presence of The Lord.

I hope this article has helped you in Understanding the eternal life and the importance of Jesus. I you are not a believer and would like to give your life to Christ please visit our page Salavation Now
